James Walker will travel to America next week after receiving a
late call-up to race in one of the world's top endurance races: The
Rolex 24 at Daytona. This will be James' second Daytona 24
Hours as he made his debut there last year.
James jumped at the chance to do Daytona again when he got the call
up from Bullet Racing last week. He will race the Canadian
team's No. 22 Porsche GT3 alongside Daryl O'Young, Eric Lux and
Brian Wong, in the gruelling 24-hour race.
Although this is James' second Daytona he is really still a rookie
as the car he raced last year retired early on with engine
problems. This time he is hoping to complete the race and
take his first 24-hour finish.
"I got a real taste for Daytona when I was there last year," said
James. "It's an incredible event and its great that I have been
able to hook up with a team of drivers I already know. I
loved the track and I have some experience in a Porsche now so I'm
looking forward to getting back out there."
Such is the stature of this event, James will be sharing the track
with the likes of Juan Pablo Montoya, Dario Franchitti, Martin
Brundle and Mark Blundell. He will also be running against
his own manager, Tim Sugden, who is racing a rival team's
Porsche.
"There are some big names competing in this race and that really
helps to make it such a great event," said James. "I'm very
proud to be part of it and I can't wait to get stuck in. It
will be interesting to see what happen if I end up in an on-track
battle with Tim too!"
The Rolex 24 at Daytona gets underway at 3:30pm EST on 29
January.
